The Navigator: 11.21.19

***No Navigator E-News next week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  That said, I am including a few extra moving and inspirational articles in this week’s Navigator that you can read in your spare time over the holidays.  As is my goal, these articles will, both, strengthen your faith as well as arm you with confidence as you engage in intelligent dialogue about the Christian faith.  Love to you all, Nick

100 YEAR OLD CHIEFS FAN & PATRICK MAHOMES

Because one of Lubbock’s favorite sons, former TTU quarterback Patrick Mahomes, is a part of this story I thought you would enjoy reading about it.

The story is heart-warming and has made the rounds on the internet.  By all means, don’t miss watching the video at the end of the article.  Have a kleenex ready. 🙂

HOW TO TEACH YOUR TEEN TO STUDY (AND LOVE) THE BIBLE

This article is outstanding.

Parents, the saying is true: you teach what you know, but you reproduce what you are.

Want your child (or grandchild) to develop a love for the Word of God? Lead the way.

And don’t let Satan shame you or make you feel guilty for not knowing the Bible yourself. Learn with your child – together. 🙂

This article here is brief with clear and simple steps to begin falling in love with the Bible with your most precious possession: your child (or grandchild.)  Read the article here.

QUOTE of the WEEK

And this gem from C.S. Lewis’ book, Miracles:

LAUGHTER IS GOOD MEDICINE

A guy said to his buddy: “My wife thinks I put football before marriage, even though we just celebrated our third season together.”

And a bonus…

Martha Stewart’s Tips for Rednecks

RELIGION

It’s considered tacky to take a cooler to church.

ENTERTAINING IN YOUR HOME

A centerpiece for the table should never be anything prepared by a taxidermist.

PERSONAL HYGIENE

While ears need to be cleaned regularly, this is a job that should be done in private using one’s OWN truck keys.

DATING (OUTSIDE THE FAMILY)

Establish with her parents what time she is expected back. Some will say 10pm. Others might say “Monday”. If the latter is the answer, it is the man’s responsibility to get her to school on time.

THEATER ETIQUETTE

Refrain from talking to, or yelling at, characters on the screen. Tests have proven they can’t hear you.

WEDDINGS

For the groom, at least, rent a tux. A leisure suit with a cummerbund and a clean bowling shirt can create a tacky appearance.
